ANSWER SNIPER ORIGINAL |
|
BEFORE YOU BEGIN >>> You need to have an established Yahoo Answers account before using the software. Further, you will need to have logged into your account on the Yahoo Answers website at least once and defined settings for your profile on the Yahoo Answers website. If you do not do this, Answer Sniper will not be able to post answers via your account as the posting method will be caught in a loop with Yahoo Answers asking the software to define your personal profile on their site before posting anything via the account. So be sure you can manually post an answer to Yahoo Answers via their website before attempting to use Answer Sniper to do this. You will only need to do this once.
BASIC INSTRUCTIONS >>> The following is the logical progression of using the software from first install. It gives basic overall instructions to get you up and running quickly. You will find other features not mentioned here throughout the software, most of which are self-explanatory and you will find the software is very flexible.
The first thing you need to do after entering your license key is to create a profile. This associates your Yahoo Answers account with project/website specific information in Answer Sniper. Every time you use Answer Sniper, it will associate the information you place here with your account and automatically login and post answers to this account. If you have the professional version of Answer Sniper, you can create as many profiles as you like, the process is the same for creating additional profiles.
...once you have created your profile, you will be taken to the main admin interface of the application and you will automatically begin working in the profile you just created. You can view the currently active profile at anytime as shown at the bottom of the software...
Finding Questions To Answer & Answering Questions Now that you have a profile, you need to find questions to answer. Click on the "Search/Subscribe" tab. In this section you will see a "Subscribe Search" button. Clicking this will open the search feature of Answer Sniper as shown below...
...Here you enter your keyword term next to the "Keyword" field. You can also use the drop down menu to refine the search to include "All These Words", "Any Of These Words", and "The Exact Phrase". Below this box is another input field where you can exclude specific keywords from the search if needed. You can also search for a match in "All" which includes questions and any associated answers already posted to the respective question, or only the question. For accuracy, we recommend you search only in the question. You can also select to search in specific categories, and select to search all English questions, or only those for the United States. We recommend that you leave the category to all, and all English questions to return maximum results. Clicking on the "OK" button will begin the search process. Answer Sniper is now searching Yahoo Answers for questions related to your keyword term/phrase. For this example I have set the keyword term to "Acne", searched for a match in the Question only, looking in all categories, and searching all English questions. The search will take a few seconds to complete and you will then be taken to the results page...
...The results page will show you the title of the question, the date it was found, how many answers have already been posted to the question (if any), and the category it was found in. All questions found were "open questions" (meaning you can answer them) at the time of searching. At anytime you can also click the "Refresh" button located at the top right hand side of the screen to re-conduct the search to update it with the most relevant information. Highlight any question in the results list to make the "View/Post" and "View Original" buttons active. The "Your Answer" button is only applicable if you have already answered the question and will take you directly to the answer you left so you can review and/or edit it. The "View Original" button will take you to the Yahoo Answers website to view the question online if you would prefer to do this for whatever reason. When you highlight a question that looks good and click the "View/Post" button you will be taken to the following screen...
...here you can read the question and view any answers already posted. If more than one answer is already posted, you can scroll through them all (backwards and forwards) using the arrow buttons in the middle of the screen. If you wish to ignore this question you simply need to click the "Close" button. If you wish to answer the question, click the "Post Answer" button. This will take you to the following screen...
...Input your answer to the question in the "Your Answer" section. The "Source" section is a place for you to reference the source of the material you have used to answer the question. You can also link to your website here if you chose to do so. The currently active profile will be selected from the drop down menu. If for some reason you wish to post it to a different Yahoo Answers account stored under a different profile you can change it here (you will see the Yahoo ID: field below change to your respective Yahoo Answers id for that profile... this only applies to the Professional Version). The "Your Signature" section will be pre-populated with the signature you created when you setup your profile. You can edit that here before posting your answer if you need to (it will not change your default signature for the profile, the changes will only apply to this answer) . Lastly you will see the "Research" section. Here there is an input field pre-populated with various keywords related to the question you are viewing. Clicking on any of the icons below this will open a different research website in a new window where you can research related questions online to help formulate your own answer. You can also change the keyword terms here if you wish to look for other information. Once you're satisfied, clicking the "Post" button will immediately post your answer to the Yahoo Answers website. You can work your way through the list of results given, answering questions one by one mentioned above. However you should also "subscribe" to the search terms to monitor them, so Answer Sniper can alert you whenever a new question is posted related to the term. This gives you the ability to be the first to answer...
You will notice in the results section there is a "Subscribe" & "Close" button located at the bottom right hand of the screen...
...Clicking "Close" will discard these results. Clicking "Subscribe" will ask you to input a reference name to call this "subscription". We recommend you use the same name as the keyword phrase - in this case acne - to keep things tidy. Enter the subscription name and click ok. You are now setup to monitor this keyword term for this profile. You can add as many keyword term subscriptions as you like for each profile. In the example we have been using, we would also run an individual search and create a subscription for the keyword terms "pimples", "whiteheads" and other acne related terms etc. The more terms you subscribe to, the more questions you will find & be able to answer. You can see all of your subscriptions located on the "Search/Subscribe" tab...
...You can add new keyword terms to monitor by repeating the "Subscribe Search" process. You can also highlight any existing subscriptions and click the "View Results" to bring the results window back up. You can remove a search by clicking the "Unsubscribe Search" button (this is not reversible - you will need to recreate a keyword subscription again if you remove one).
The "Configuration" tab in the software contains various settings you can change to alter the performance of Answer Sniper...
...The only really important one here is the "Poll Interval" setting. This is the time interval between monitoring periods. If set to 30 minutes Answer Sniper will check Yahoo Answers every 30 minutes to see if any new questions have been posted based on your subscribed keyword terms. The lower this value the more often it will check, and the better the odds of you being the first person answering the questions. You should set this value to something you are conformable with keeping in mind you will be using more system resources, the more frequent you decide to check the Yahoo Answers website. The "Notifications" section defines the type of notifications you will receive. Desktop notifications will appear from your system tray the moment a new question/s is found and look like this...
...clicking on the notification will take you to the respective Search Results window where you can then view the new questions added to this subscription. NOTE: If you miss these notifications (they only appear for 15 seconds) or chose to ignore them, you can click the "Notifications" tab in the main admin interface to see all notifications made at anytime. You can then come back and answer the new questions found. The SMS notifications will send a text message to your cell phone when new questions are found. This works only with the free SKYPE chatting / telephony software so you will need to have that installed and working correctly before you can use this feature in Answer Sniper.
Initiating The Monitoring Process Once you have created your profile/s, setup your keywords subscriptions, and configured the software to your liking, you need to initiate the monitoring process...
...this is done by returning to the "Sniper Process" screen and clicking the start button. Answer Sniper will now begin monitoring the Yahoo Answers website. You will also notice certain tabs disappear from along the top section of the software. This is because you cannot make changes whilst monitoring. Clicking the stop button will bring these options back for manipulation. Finally, click the minimize button at the top right hand side of the software to minimize the application to your desktop tray and leave Answer Sniper monitoring Yahoo Answers for you in the background.
That is the basic use of Answer Sniper and this document will be added to in time as further support requests highlight areas that might need further explanation. Wishing you all of the best... Duncan Carver - admin@answersniper.com |
